An Act to amend the Canada Labour Code (bereavement leave)
Bill C-211 was a Liberal Private Member's Bill amending the Canada Labour Code (R.S.C. 1985, c. L-2) to expand bereavement leave for federally regulated workers from the current five-day allowance (introduced 2018) to ten days with at least three days paid. Federally regulated industries (banking, telecommunications, interprovincial transport, federal civil service) employ approximately 6 percent of Canadian workers. The bill was overtaken by the 2024 Working for Workers federal amendments package that increased bereavement leave to eight days. C-211 did not pass third reading.
