An Act to amend the Canada Elections Act and to enact An Act to change the names of certain electoral districts, 2026
Bill C-25 (45-1) is a government bill from Steven MacKinnon to amend the Canada Elections Act and rename certain electoral districts. The elections changes add and strengthen prohibitions, including on foreign influence in elections, bribery, unauthorized computer use, and publishing false or misleading information about an election or the candidate-nomination process. It also sets rules for voting in party nomination and leadership contests, tightens contribution rules, adds privacy obligations for political parties, and gives the Commissioner of Canada Elections stronger enforcement powers. A separate part renames a number of federal ridings to better match the 2023 redistribution boundaries.
