An Act to repeal certain restrictions on shipping
Bill C-264 (45-1) is a Conservative Private Member's Bill to repeal the Oil Tanker Moratorium Act, the 2019 law (originally Bill C-48) that bans large crude-oil tankers from stopping or loading along British Columbia's north coast, from the Alaska border down to the northern tip of Vancouver Island. Supporters say lifting the ban would open a tidewater route for Alberta and Saskatchewan oil; opponents, including many coastal First Nations, warn of spill risk to the Great Bear Rainforest coast.
