An Act to amend the Pest Control Products Act (glyphosate)
Bill C-287 was an NDP Private Member's Bill amending the Pest Control Products Act (S.C. 2002, c. 28) to prohibit the registration, use, and sale of glyphosate-based herbicides in Canada. Glyphosate (the active ingredient in Roundup and other herbicides) was classified by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) as Group 2A probably carcinogenic to humans in March 2015. Health Canada's Pest Management Regulatory Agency re-registered glyphosate for use in April 2017 with no labour-safety changes. The European Union renewed glyphosate authorization for 10 years in November 2023. Did not pass second reading.
