An Act to provide for the establishment of a national council for reconciliation
National Council for Reconciliation Act. Royal assent November 27, 2024 (S.C. 2024, c. 19). Implements Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action 53 through 56 by establishing an independent, Indigenous-led National Council for Reconciliation. The Council monitors and reports annually on the progress of federal-Indigenous reconciliation efforts and federal-government compliance with the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act. Gary Anandasangaree was the sponsoring minister.
