An Act to amend the Criminal Code (promotion of hatred or antisemitism)
Bill C-373 was a Conservative Private Member's Bill amending the Criminal Code (R.S.C. 1985, c. C-46) to add specific protections against the wilful promotion of hatred or antisemitism, complementing Bill C-250 of 44-1 (Holocaust-denial criminalization which became law via Bill C-19 Budget Implementation Act 2022). Brought after the October 2023 spike in antisemitic incidents reported across Canada following the Hamas-Israel conflict (B'nai Brith Canada documented a 109-percent increase in antisemitic incidents in 2023 versus 2022, the highest on record in 41 years of tracking). Did not pass second reading. Some elements were incorporated into the government's Bill C-63 (Online Harms Act) before it stalled.
