An Act to amend the Criminal Code and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (possession of weapons and drugs in hospitals)
Bill C-391 (44-1) was a Conservative Private Member's Bill from Kerry-Lynne Findlay to amend the Criminal Code so that carrying a weapon in or near a hospital or other health-care facility counts as an aggravating factor at sentencing, and to amend the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act so the Health Minister could not grant an exemption allowing illegal or unprescribed drug use inside a hospital. It responded to reports of weapons and open drug use in hospitals, an issue that grew during British Columbia's drug-decriminalization pilot. It did not pass second reading.
