An Act to establish a national food cooperative strategy
Bill C-421 was an NDP Private Member's Bill establishing a national strategy on food cooperatives, supporting consumer cooperatives, producer cooperatives, and worker cooperatives in the food sector. Federal-provincial-territorial agriculture ministers have recognized cooperatives in successive Agricultural Policy Frameworks (Growing Forward, Canadian Agricultural Partnership, and the current Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership 2023-2028 which is $3.5 billion over five years). C-421 sought a binding federal strategy with reporting requirements. Did not pass second reading.
