Budget Implementation Act, 2023, No. 1. Royal assent June 22, 2023 (S.C. 2023, c. 26). Implements key measures from the March 28, 2023 federal budget. Key provisions: the Grocery Rebate (one-time top-up to the GST credit, paid July 5, 2023, costing $2.5 billion to 11 million Canadians at $234 to $467 per household), launch of the Canadian Dental Care Plan, the Clean Hydrogen Investment Tax Credit, the Clean Technology Investment Tax Credit, automatic enrolment in the Canada Workers Benefit, and major Employment Insurance reforms (including 26 weeks of EI sickness benefits, up from 15). Sponsored by Chrystia Freeland as Minister of Finance.
