An Act to implement the 2023 Free Trade Agreement between Canada and Ukraine. Royal assent March 19, 2024 (S.C. 2024, c. 5). Implements the modernized Canada-Ukraine Free Trade Agreement signed in Ottawa on September 22, 2023. The agreement updates the original 2017 deal (which covered goods only) by adding chapters on services, investment, financial services, digital trade, labour, environment, and women's economic empowerment. House of Commons vote on third reading was 205-114 (Liberal, NDP, Bloc, Green for; Conservative against; Conservatives cited a carbon-pricing reference in the environment chapter as a stated reason for opposition). Sponsored by Mary Ng as Minister of Export Promotion, International Trade and Economic Development.
