An Act to implement certain provisions of the economic and fiscal update tabled in Parliament on December 14, 2021 and other measures. Royal assent June 9, 2022 (S.C. 2022, c. 5). Implements the December 14, 2021 Economic and Fiscal Update. Key provisions: the COVID-19 Test Procurement Authority (federal funding to procure rapid tests for provinces during the Omicron wave), the new Underused Housing Tax (1% annual federal tax on vacant or underused non-Canadian-owned residential property), targeted relief for businesses required to close under provincial public-health orders, and Air Travellers Security Charge updates. Sponsored by Chrystia Freeland as Minister of Finance.
