S-287Government of Canada
An Act to amend the Canada Transportation Act (interswitching)
Amends the Canada Transportation Act to extend the rail interswitching limit, which lets shippers move freight from one railway to another within a set distance from origin to capture price competition. The expanded 160-kilometre limit lapsed in 2017 and has been a sustained ask from western grain producers.
