An Act to amend the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, to make consequential amendments to other Acts and to amend the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations
Amends the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act so that sanctions imposed under the Special Economic Measures Act (Russia, Belarus, Iran, etc.) automatically render the sanctioned individual inadmissible to Canada. Closes a gap that allowed sanctioned individuals to enter the country.
Status
Quick learn
Linked Canada's sanctions list to its immigration inadmissibility list: anyone sanctioned by Canada (Russian oligarchs, Iranian regime figures) is automatically inadmissible to enter the country. Closed a documented loophole.
