Grant Hunter is the Alberta Minister of Environment and Protected Areas, sworn in to that portfolio on January 2, 2026 after Rebecca Schulz resigned from cabinet. United Conservative MLA for Taber-Warner since 2019 (previously Cardston-Taber-Warner 2015 to 2019). A farmer from the south Alberta irrigation country, he previously served as Associate Minister of Red Tape Reduction. His environment file covers federal-provincial Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act litigation, the Alberta Industrial Carbon Tax framework, and reclamation of legacy oil-and-gas wells.
