RJ Sigurdson is the Alberta Minister of Affordability and Utilities, sworn into that portfolio in the May 21, 2026 Smith cabinet shuffle. United Conservative MLA for Highwood, first elected in 2019 and re-elected in 2023. Before politics he worked in agriculture and small business in the foothills region south of Calgary; his affordability file includes electricity-rate caps, natural-gas heating subsidies, and the cost-of-living monitoring framework introduced by the Smith government.
