Evan Solomon is the federal Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation and Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario) in the Carney cabinet, holding Canada's first cabinet portfolio dedicated to AI. Liberal MP for Toronto Centre since the April 28, 2025 election. Before politics he was a long-time political journalist, host of CBC's Power and Politics (2011-2015) and CTV's Question Period (2017-2025), and editor of Maclean's magazine. His AI file covers the June 4, 2026 AI for All Strategy ($2.3 billion in funding, 250,000 AI-related jobs by 2031), federal AI-regulation legislation, and the public supercomputing facility.
