Mike Ellis is the Deputy Premier of Alberta and Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Services in the Smith UCP government. United Conservative MLA for Calgary-West, first elected in an October 27, 2014 by-election as a Progressive Conservative, and re-elected in 2015, 2019, and 2023 (UCP since 2017). A former Calgary Police Service officer who served 18 years on the force, his public-safety files include the federal-provincial bail-reform discussions and Alberta's police-service modernization.
