Heather McPherson is House Leader of the NDP (since 2024) and Foreign Affairs Critic. MP for Edmonton Strathcona (Alberta), elected in 2019, the only NDP MP from Alberta since the riding's 2008 redistribution. Before politics she was Executive Director of the Alberta Council for Global Cooperation for 14 years. Her parliamentary work has focused on Canada's foreign-aid commitments, the federal response to the Israel-Hamas conflict, and the Alberta-federal relationship under the UCP-led provincial government.
