Wab Kinew is the 25th Premier of Manitoba (since October 18, 2023) and Leader of the Manitoba New Democratic Party, becoming the first First Nations Premier of a Canadian province. He sits in the Legislative Assembly for Fort Rouge. Won a majority government for the Manitoba NDP at the October 3, 2023 provincial election, defeating PC Premier Heather Stefanson. Before politics he was an author, broadcaster (CBC), and educator. His government's signature legislation has included the Public Health Care Protection Act (limiting private surgical contracting) and the Affordable Utility Rates Act.
