Naheed Nenshi

Naheed Nenshi is the Leader of the Alberta New Democratic Party (since June 23, 2024). Before provincial politics he was the 36th Mayor of Calgary (2010-2021), the first Muslim mayor of a major Canadian city. Won the Alberta NDP leadership in June 2024 over three other candidates including Sarah Hoffman, succeeding Rachel Notley after her retirement. Currently does not hold a seat in the Legislative Assembly. Before becoming mayor he was a McGill University associate professor of business management.
