Sylvia Jones is the Deputy Premier of Ontario (since June 24, 2022) and Minister of Health (since June 24, 2022). MPP for Dufferin-Caledon, first elected in 2007 and re-elected at every general election since. Previously Solicitor General (2018-2022) and Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport (2018-2019) under Doug Ford. As Health Minister she has overseen the expansion of OHIP-funded surgical contracts to private clinics for cataracts, MRIs, hips, and knees, the Pharmacare bilateral with Ottawa, and the response to the family-doctor shortage that left 2.3 million Ontarians without a family physician by 2024.
