Marilyn Gladu is the federal Liberal MP for Sarnia-Lambton-Bkejwanong (Ontario), first elected in 2015 as a Conservative and re-elected in 2019, 2021, and 2025 before crossing the floor to the Liberals on April 8, 2026. Her defection brought the Liberal caucus to 171 seats, one short of the 172-seat majority threshold; the three April 13, 2026 byelections then delivered the full majority. The fifth MP to cross to the Carney Liberals since the April 28, 2025 election (and the fourth Conservative; the others being Chris d'Entremont, Michael Ma, and Matt Jeneroux). Before politics she was an engineer and Sarnia-area manager at Suncor and Imperial Oil. In her statement to constituents she wrote that voters wanted "serious leadership and a real plan to build a stronger and more independent Canadian economy." A social conservative whose floor-crossing prompted Carney to publicly reaffirm Liberal values on abortion and LGBTQ rights.
