
Sonia LeBel is Minister of Education of Quebec (since April 21, 2026 under Premier Christine Frechette, replacing Bernard Drainville who moved to economy). CAQ MNA for Champlain, first elected in 2018 and re-elected in 2022. Before politics she was the chief prosecutor of the Charbonneau Commission on the construction industry in Quebec (2011-2015). Previously Minister of Justice (2018-2022), Minister Responsible for Canadian Relations and the Canadian Francophonie (2018-2022), and Minister Responsible for Government Administration and Chair of the Conseil du tresor (2022-2026). Considered one of the most experienced senior ministers in the Frechette cabinet, often described as the de facto deputy premier in policy matters.
