Health Human Resources Act
Ontario's Health Human Resources Act was the Ford government's flagship response to the family-doctor shortage that left 2.3 million Ontarians without a family physician by 2024 (Ontario College of Family Physicians estimate). The Act streamlines credential recognition for internationally trained physicians, expands the scope of practice for nurse practitioners and pharmacists, and increases medical school class sizes at Ontario universities. Companion to the controversial Bill 60 (Your Health Act, 2023) that authorized private-clinic OHIP-funded surgeries.
