Health Authority Modernization Act
Nova Scotia's Bill 312 (Health Authority Modernization Act) is the Houston PC government's restructuring of Nova Scotia Health (the consolidated provincial health authority created in 2015 by the McNeil Liberal government's Bill 1). Splits NSH into the Acute Care Authority (handling hospitals and emergency services) and the Community Care Authority (handling primary care, public health, and long-term care). The reform aims to reduce administrative overlap that the May 2022 Office of the Auditor General's report found represented approximately 8 percent of NSH operating budget. Critics including the Nova Scotia Government and General Employees Union argued the split would recreate fragmentation the 2015 consolidation had reduced.
