Affordability Action Plan Implementation Act
Alberta's Affordability Action Plan Implementation Act was the Smith UCP government's legislative response to inflationary pressure that drove provincial CPI to 8.2 percent year-over-year in June 2022. The Act suspended the provincial fuel tax of 13 cents per litre (in force April 2022 through 2024 with quarterly review based on West Texas Intermediate crude prices), indexed the personal income-tax brackets to inflation (restoring a 2020 policy reversed during the COVID fiscal contraction), and authorized one-time affordability rebates of $100 per month for six months to seniors, families, and AISH recipients.
