An Act to amend the Income Tax Act (heat recovery tax credit)
Bill C-269 was a Conservative Private Member's Bill amending the Income Tax Act (R.S.C. 1985, c. 1, 5th Supp.) to create a federal tax credit for the installation of residential heat-recovery ventilator (HRV) and energy-recovery ventilator (ERV) systems. HRV/ERV systems recover heat from outgoing stale air to reduce home-heating costs. The Canadian Home Builders' Association estimates approximately 75 percent of new Canadian homes built since 2017 include HRV systems under provincial-building-code requirements (Ontario's Building Code Part 9.32, BC's Building Code 9.32, Quebec's Reglement sur l'efficacite energetique). The bill would have provided a federal 25-percent installation tax credit. Did not pass second reading.
