An Act respecting the development of a national renewable energy strategy
Bill C-312 was an NDP Private Member's Bill establishing a federal framework for a National Renewable Energy Strategy with binding deployment targets, transmission-grid expansion coordination, and capital-allocation rules for renewable-energy projects. Builds on the Canadian Net-Zero Emissions Accountability Act (S.C. 2021, c. 22) net-zero-by-2050 commitment and the Clean Electricity Regulations 2035 carbon-free-grid target. Companion to Bill C-214 of 45-1 with the same proposal. Did not pass second reading. The 2024 federal budget included parts of the strategy in the Canada Growth Fund's renewable-energy investment-priority framework.
