An Act to amend the Canada National Parks Act, the Canada National Marine Conservation Areas Act, the Rouge National Urban Park Act and the National Parks of Canada Fishing Regulations
Bill S-14 (44-1) was a government bill, introduced in the Senate, to update Canada's national-parks laws. It would have added protected areas to the legal schedules of the Canada National Parks Act and the Canada National Marine Conservation Areas Act, including the Mealy Mountains National Park Reserve in Labrador and the Tallurutiup Imanga National Marine Conservation Area in Nunavut, renamed the Gwaii Haanas reserve in Haida Gwaii to recognize it as a Haida Heritage Site, adjusted several park boundaries, and broadened the offences for dumping or discharging harmful substances in a park. It passed the Senate but stalled at second reading in the House of Commons and did not become law before the 44th Parliament ended.
