Yukon Liberal Party

Yukon's centrist territorial party. Formed government 1996-2000 under Pat Duncan, then opposition until 2016 when Sandy Silver led the Liberals to a majority defeating the Yukon Party. Won re-election in April 2021 in a minority government supported by a written supply-and-confidence agreement with the Yukon NDP (signed January 28, 2021), the first such formal agreement in Yukon territorial history. Silver retired in 2023 and Ranj Pillai became leader and Premier on January 14, 2023, the first South Asian-Canadian Premier in Canadian history. The supply-and-confidence agreement with the Yukon NDP under Kate White expired in 2024 and the territory is now governing on a case-by-case basis ahead of an election expected in 2025.
