Garnett Genuis is the Conservative Party International Development Critic and MP for Sherwood Park-Fort Saskatchewan (Alberta), elected in 2015. Has been the Conservative point person on Magnitsky-style sanctions, sponsoring Bill C-353 of 44-1 (Foreign Hostage Takers Accountability Act) and Bill C-281 of 44-1 (International Human Rights Act). One of the most active CPC backbenchers on foreign-affairs legislation, with a particular focus on China-Canada relations, religious-freedom advocacy, and humanitarian-aid coordination.
