Tim Uppal is Deputy Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada (since September 2022, alongside Melissa Lantsman) and MP for Edmonton Mill Woods (Alberta), elected in 2008 (lost in 2015, returned in 2019). Previously Minister of State for Democratic Reform (2011-2013) and Minister of State for Multiculturalism (2013-2015) under Stephen Harper. The first Sikh-Canadian Cabinet minister in Canadian history. His Democratic Reform file covered the federal voter-identification rules and the Canada Elections Act 2014 Fair Elections Act.
