P.J. Akeeagok

P.J. Akeeagok (Pamela Joy Akeeagok) is the 6th Premier of Nunavut (since November 19, 2021). Nunavut operates under consensus government like the NWT; he was elected by the 22-member Legislative Assembly. He represents Iqaluit-Niaqunnguu. Before becoming Premier he was President of the Qikiqtani Inuit Association (2014-2021). His Cabinet has focused on housing, mental health, Inuit language revitalization, and the Devolution Agreement with Canada transferring jurisdiction over Crown lands and resources from Ottawa to Nunavut.
