An Act respecting accountability, transparency and engagement to support the creation of sustainable jobs for workers and economic growth in a net-zero economy
Canadian Sustainable Jobs Act. Royal assent June 20, 2024 (S.C. 2024, c. 11). Federal framework for the just transition to a net-zero economy. Requires the federal government to publish a Sustainable Jobs Action Plan every five years (first plan due 2025), establishes a Sustainable Jobs Partnership Council with worker, industry, Indigenous, and provincial representation, and creates a Secretariat in the Department of Natural Resources to coordinate cross-departmental action. Especially relevant to fossil-fuel-dependent regions (Alberta, Saskatchewan, Newfoundland and Labrador).
